@AverageJoe1 saidSounds like you're still licking your wounds...
Yes, I was really chided by someone here who fancies himself the man of letters and words as Suzianne is, I wrestled with naiveatay and was sorely admonished.
@AverageJoe1 saidIt ain't over till it's over. the so called peace has already been broken at least 4 dead Gazan's. It will be over when Israel agrees to a two state situation not Israel lording it over Gaza.
No, actually, I would feel compassion as you would for your father who had spent years dreaming and working hard toward resolving differences between two native tribes in Borneo. On October 2, they sat together at a campfire, smoked a peace pipe, coming to fragile agreement to lay down their machetes.
But alas, on Oct 10th, he wakens to news of breach of the peace a ...[text shortened]... ow you would feel?
As your whether it is a new war, I would not know, not versed in such matters.
@sonhouse saidIt may take Trump. telling Netanyahu, to tell his IDF generals, to tell his soldiers, to eradicate the Hamas.

@AverageJoe1 saidNot going to happen. If it does, how many more Gazan civilians will die in this action? Not that Trump would give a damn if they live or die.

I'm gonna get those Hamas people once and for all.
@AverageJoe1 said"Naivete" is a perfectly correct spelling in English, though "naïveté" is also acceptable.

German has umlaut-letters, ä, ö, ü, and since I'm bi-lingual, I have a German keyboard which has those letters. But one can also legitimately spell them out as ae, oe, and ue, though it sometimes looks awkward, as in "Häuser" (houses, plural) which can be spelled "Haeuser."
French is probably the most annoying language for diacriticals, especially since they don't pronounce half the letters anyway. They even have a diacritical, the circumflex, ^, for letters they don't pronounce! For example, "côte" is short for "coast," dropping the "s". Sheesh, why not just leave the letter in and drop the circumflex?
@moonbus saidget real. would it not be better if we all spoke (and wrote) English. 26 letters and no dicle;ctias or whatever you call them. And have you ever spoken with a dutch citizen? My builder client is dutch, I sat in amazement listening to the gutteral conversation between him and his sister. Imagine what Shav sounds like. and the queer effiminate 'forming' of french words. yuk.

I am going to get a Soros sign that says 'Global English!' and march around, though I would be scared to walk in a street.
Hey, did you see the answers of sonhouse and sue on Page 6, #12, of the Bounty thread?
@AverageJoe1 saidNo, it would not be better if everyone spoke the same language. The beauty of different languages is that they reflect different cultures and different mindsets. Different languages do not simply have different-sounding noises for all the same concepts; there are genuinely different concepts behind their different words. We can learn from this, if we but make the effort to learn foreign languages and their associated cultures. I highly recommend every teenager to take a year or two off after school, before entering the jobs market, to travel the world.

@moonbus saidYou are correct, I guess I was not being literal, but only seeing the curious way that words and punctuations thereof are so complicated when it need not be.....English speakers do not need the extra keys on a computer to get the same points across.

Thanky ou for highlighting the existence of different cultures, I have a hard time with 'the Forum People" 👹when incorporating the effect of culture on society.
@AverageJoe1 saidWhat do you think the IDF has been doing for the last two years?
It may take Trump. telling Netanyahu, to tell his IDF generals, to tell his soldiers, to eradicate the Hamas.
@no1marauder saidcouldn' say, but I am REAL interested how Trump will deploy them with the new situation....You see, the '"what they have been doing for the last few years" (it could b playing cards or on a mission in Siberia) has absolutley nothing to do with the need we will have for their services in the coming months.
What do you think the IDF has been doing for the last two years?
What is the liberal's penchant for dwelling or referring back to the past all the time. Trump was 'doing golf' a few years ago, is that relevant to what he is doing now?
Help me.
@AverageJoe1 saidIt is certainly convenient when everyone can agree on some one common language, as a fall-back or for diplomacy. This was Latin for many centuries, and then French. Now it happens to be English (we have the British Empire to thank for that). Someday, it will be Mandarin ...

@AverageJoe1 saidA blowhard telling them to do the impossible mission that Netanyahu has had them trying to do for two years won't make it any more possible.

@no1marauder saidThis one is now saying that Trump will fail, when he never fails. You are saying that Netanyahu could not do it, that Trump cannot do it.

His negative use of blowhard makes me wonder if he would rather have a blowsoft for president, like Kamala.
He would, handing out money. Pitiful.
@AverageJoe1 saidSo much for that cease-fire. Did it even last a week just as with Ukraine and Russia little joe boy? Trump can't do anything right; everything he touches turns to sht.
I myself just can't get excited, what with the 39 felonies and orange hair.
Me, I wish Biden, Clinton, and Clinton, and Bernie, Schumer, Comey, Brennan, Kamala, AOC, Obama, Walz, Jill Biden, Hunter with all of the unusual unelected people who ran the government for the last 4 years were all melded together and doing all the things good for our nation.
