To take one of your 'destroyed' countries as an example, Afghanistan (that's how you spell it, by the way) is a university - free zone, at least as far as women are concerned, and there is definitely a 'clear mandate' coming from the leaders there, my point being that it depends on the 'clear mandate'.
In the United States, the clear mandate seems to change from day to day, certainly in terms of economic policy, and it was and is created by a proven liar, cheat and convicted felon to boot, facts which are conveniently ignored and certainly never addressed by his supporters. Here's a man who has by such means become so rich* that he has no vested interest in improving the lot of the 'average' American; that is the person who currently claims the highly dubious title of 'Leader of the free world', whilst he goes about denying freedoms like it's going out of fashion.
* Just as an aside, the three people who hold the top jobs in the White House have a combined wealth which is greater than the lowest 50% of the rest of Americans, and however he eventually tanks the American economy, Mister Trump will never be a poor man, except in spirit. It's easy to be 'successful', whether as a country, corporation or individual if that success is founded on debt, the trouble with debts being that they have to be paid back, so here come the 'tariffs', about which, if they were such a good idea, why has nobody done this before? Ergo, they are not a good idea, and the sound of Mister Trump climbing down from his clear mandate is deafening.
