No:

" The gist is that the majority party would move to change the supermajority rule through a series of votes that require only a simple majority."

I'm sorry that was a dumb joke. If you have interacted with any child ages 8-12 in the last few months, you would know the 6-7 reference.

The bit that Republicans don't get is this: if they give THEIR president immunity from prosecution, and THEMSELVES the power to re-write the rules of order in Congress unilaterally, all that will backfire on them as soon as the Democrats (or some other party) take control of the WH and Congress--they are attempting to rule as a single-party state, it does not seem to occur to Republicans that they are not going to be in control of the WH and Congress forever and ever.

It's very hard banning 6 7 in a maths class.
Rather than ban it I make problems that equal 67, or 6.7...what's 134 divided by 2...
Give two numbers that add to 13...
What product gives the answer to the meaning of life the universe and everything....
So I go the other way and make it fun.

I've always opposed the filibuster and would be fine with it being eliminated so long as it was a permanent abolition and not some gimmick like only for a year.

Continuity counts for something. Long-standing procedures should not be changed by one party for reasons which seem expedient to said party in the moment. Same comment applies to SCOTUS over-turning Roe vs. Wade--it was an arbitrary change, not for sound legal reasons.

But doesn't the end of filibuster mean the majority party cannot be even slowed down?

Why should it be? If the People put one party in charge of the Presidency and both Houses of Congress it should be able to enact its agenda. There's always the next election if what they do proves unpopular.

The practice of filibustering every single piece of legislation is a recent innovation.

Yah, I like that. Lean in and have fun with it.

Although everyone knows the real answer to meaning in the universe is 33.

Makes you think the Republicans agenda is to shut the government down.

No jobs report.
No Epstein files.
Blame Democrats all day every day.
