@metal-brain saidHahaha what an effing 2yr old. So Hunter pleads guilty, something trump is to dishonest to do and that’s election interference ๐
"Election Interference!" he says.

It was never more than a tax misdemeanour and a very minor firearms charge.
Phoning a state and threatening them with jail if they do not introduce thousands of ballots in your favour out of thin air, that’s election interference.
@kevcvs57 saidAs if Hunter had a choice. He tried to cheat on his taxes and it was a lot of money.

Wesley Snipes got 3 years in prison. Richard Hatch got 51 months in prison. No jail time for Hunter. Even Pete Rose got 5 months in prison because he failed to properly report income from autograph and memorabilia sales and (horse) gambling wins.

How was what Pete Rose did worse than Hunter?

Hunter is a sideshow. He was naughty. He got caught. This is such a non-issue. That Trump gets into a rage over it speaks volumes.

@metal-brain saidSnipes and Hatch both made the mistake of taking their cases to trial.

Maybe we should wait and see what Hunter's actual sentence is before we start throwing around "whataboutisms".

@no1marauder saidI heard he will not see any jail time. It is a misdemeanor.

I focused on Pete Rose. And Rose didn't have a gun charge like Hunter.
@metal-brain saidThat's the recommendation but the judge is not obliged to follow it.

I'll wait for the sentencing; the judge will.give his sentence and reasons for it at that time and those can then be compared to other cases.
@metal-brain saidIdiot.

Him and you.
@no1marauder saidDo you really think Hunter will go to prison? The president's son who the corporate news media is going through so much trouble to protect? The recommendation is followed by judges 9 out of 10 times.

Are you willing to make a bet on it?

I've said many times on this board that I am loath to question the judgment of factfinders in a legal setting who have access to all the information when I do not. The recommendation may or may not be followed; it's up to the judge's discretion. A short period of incarceration, like in the Rose case, isn't out of the question.

@metal-brain saidNot my call, whose crimes were worse. Judges have discretion within a range of sentencing options, and contrition by the defendant counts for something, too.

@no1marauder saidIn other words, you lack confidence in your own statements.
No.

That is why you run away from a bet.
@metal-brain saidSince I never made any statement claiming Hunter would go to prison, you're talking out your a**.
