@no1marauder saidWhat could or would Putin give in exchange for a few covid tests?
What did Trump receive in return might be the salient question.
@wildgrass saidAnd suddenly Trump's judgment means something to you?
It was deliberately concealed to the public and denied by Trump's campaign. I think that at least trump must think it's bad.
We've all seen Trump for the past 10 years. He screams about and denies irrelevant things constantly and he had no idea what's good and what's bad.
But covid tests?
He probably couldn't spell covid test, if you spotted him the "covid" and the "t"
I just find it so bizarre how people scream about literally everything Trump does as though it's the end of the world, when, if it weren't Trump, nobody would care. (If Biden gave Putin a few covid tests in February of 2021, would people care? Be honest.)
@sh76 said(Shrug) I was responding to DG's post describing this as a "negotiation" where Trump might have gotten "value" in return.

IF Trump received something of value from Putin for giving him US government property don't you think the People of the US should know what it was?
@no1marauder saidSomething is going on between Putin and Trump after he was out of the White House, the corresponded at least 7 times which are known about. I believe it is unheard of for an x-President to be chummy with a Dictator. Why did Putin endorse Kamala Harris? I think Trump and Putin conjured that between them, probably Putin's idea to make it appear he wanted Kamala to be Voted in as U.S. next President, hopefully not many are buying it.

@Suzianne saidYou're right. To add to your point, Trump also made this statement:
And at that time, there was a shortage of tests to go around in the US. I think this is the bigger issue.
https://www.statnews.com/2020/07/20/trump-said-more-covid19-testing-creates-more-cases-we-did-the-math/
In a June 15 tweet, President Trump said testing “makes us look bad.” At his campaign rally in Tulsa five days later, he said he had asked his “people” to “slow the testing down, please.” At a White House press conference last week, he told reporters, “When you test, you create cases.”
If there were less tests to go around, by Trump's logic, there's less Covid to be found.
@sh76 saidFor the record, these aren't the test tube like tests which you put on top of your refrigerator (which weren't available at the time; it took days to get a result from a lab) but sophisticated top of the line machines.https://www.abbott.com/corpnewsroom/diagnostics-testing/detect-covid-19-in-as-little-as-5-minutes.html

@Very-Rusty
Provided we had them as well? I hate to bring it to your attention but THOUSANDS were dying of Covid and there were almost NO test kits available in 2020.
This act alone shows Trump doesn't care in the slightest about common folks here, but sucks up to dictators like inviting the Taliban to Camp David, first time an active enemy ever came there.
And love letters to Kim Jon Un, having ultraright winger foreign leaders to dinner at Mar A Lago.
He is the darkest person ever to be POTUS in US history and it will be a LOT worse if he gets in again.
@sonhouse saidI didn't know U.S. had a shortage at the time, that changes my whole view on the matter. We were having our own problems with getting them here in Canada. I understand THOUSANDS were dying we had people dying also, people were dying around world. TRUMP was saying wouldn't some bleach in the arm work? Wonder how many actually tried that one?

I for one never want to see TRUMP in the Oval Office again he is unfit as many of his ex Staff have said.

@Very-Rusty
Some of his staff definitely said that as well as hundreds of civil servants. 4 star generals and a lot of his former cabinet, at least the ones not currently incarcerated.

@sh76 saidYah like when you ask a child and they immediately deny eating the last scoop of ice cream, then you know that they know they did something bad.

Trump's very transactional. Probably he gave Putin the tests in exchange for something valuable.

"Yesterday we learned from a forthcoming book by veteran journalist Bob Woodward that in 2020, while he was president, Trump secretly shipped Covid-19 testing equipment to Russian president Vladimir Putin for his own personal use at a time when Americans could not get it. To be clear, this equipment was not the swabs we now use at home, but appears to be what at the time was a new point-of-care machine from Abbott Laboratories that claimed to be the fastest way to test for Covid-19.
Journalist Karly Kingsley points out that at the time, central lab testing to diagnose Covid-19 infections took a long time, causing infections to spread. Machines like Abbott’s were hard to get. Trump chose to send them to Putin—not to charge him for them, or to negotiate for the release of Paul Whelan and Trevor Reed, two Americans being held by Russia at the time and later released under the Biden administration, but to give them to him—rather than keeping them for Americans." @sh76 saidIt just adds to the conspiratorial nature of democrats that believe Trump is a puppet of Putin. They are determined to believe it. You can tell them Trump imposed more sanctions on Russia than anyone and they will still believe he is kissing Putin's ass.
There are plenty of links, but just to provide one...

A) I don't get why Trump is treating this as an accusation and going into tantrum mode to deny it.
B) If true, why is it a bad thing? I mean even a little bit of a bad thing?
Weren't tests supposed to help control the spread? Does covid spread stop at borders? Were we ...[text shortened]... y, was hardly Public Enemy #1 like he is now.
Anyone want to help me on why this is even a story?
It is to help promote the false conspiracy theory that Trump was colluding with Putin. Demonizing them both with one stone.
