Is this proof Trump's tariffs are not working and are nothing more than a tax on Americans that buy imported goods?

Hey Mott - Tell that to the American farmers that are losing their farms over these tariffs. President Donald Trump is about to get an earful from Americans hurt by tariffs. More than 80 trade associations representing thousands of businesses and workers announced Wednesday they are forming a coalition called Americans for Free Trade and joining with agriculture groups to launch a multimillion-dollar campaign against tariffs. Called Tariffs Hurt the Heartland, the campaign will highlight the negative impact of tariffs on businesses and the benefits of international trade to the U.S. economy.

You can always tell a Trump supporter, but you can't tell them very much! 🙄

The trade deficit is growing. Apparently the tariffs are not high enough to curb buying imported goods. Who is to blame for that?

the deficit is growing because the US economy is booming...

"(Bloomberg Opinion) -- U.S. President Donald Trump has made closing America’s trade deficit with China a top priority. The problem is, it’s growing instead. For Trump, that’s probably more proof that his tariff-heavy, get-tough approach to China is the correct strategy. For economists, it’s not such a big deal. The U.S. economy is roaring, and roaring economies tend to import more.
There’s another reason, too, why the trade balance is the wrong figure to focus on. It only captures one part of the greater economic relationship between the U.S. and China — and only as that relationship currently stands. Fixating on it distracts from what ultimately counts: U.S. corporate competitiveness and profitability."

The economy is not really booming and even if it was what excuse is that for a continued increasing trade deficit when that is what Trump is trying to reduce?
Tariffs are a tax on American consumers who buy certain imported goods. If that tax is high enough to make the imported product more expensive than a domestically made product the trade deficit is reduced. If that tax is still lower than the domestically made product the imports continue even though it cost more.

The result: Higher cost without any reduction in the trade deficit. Just a tax scam without any benefit to our economy. In fact, it is a betrayal of the typical "lower taxes" motto of the right. Trump lowered income taxes while increasing taxes with tariffs. More policies that benefit the super wealthy elites.

Because of Tariffs we will be able to start paying down large amounts of the $21 Trillion in debt that has been accumulated, much by the Obama Administration, while at the same time reducing taxes for our people. At minimum, we will make much better Trade Deals for our country!

The way he has increased spending I will believe it when I see it. He is investing too much in offense spending. Eventually that will be used to invade another country.
