@Suzianne said? WHAT did you say!??!?!?!? So, what should replace capitalism? Please not with something where one neighbor has to support another.
You are nothing but a shill for capitalism. Capitalism is NOT the "consumer's friend".
Can you say that you would never set up a society where one citizen has a duty to another? I would never set. up a society where one person has a duty to another, other than standard govt programs of mutual benefit to all, like firestations or hospitals.......for the Legal Citizens.
Before you cast personal aspersions that I am unfeeling, I would call for a vote that people in dire need be able to apply for tax money to support them. Like, the 50M destitute in this country. It is needed.
@AverageJoe1 saidOh, bull.
Yes, the ins companies 'get it anyway'. But to 'get it', company B has to outbid company A when they tell Carl Citizen what they will charge. So that money you you are talking about will be directed by the consumer,,,,,not by the government.
So Carl has choice now, which he did not before. And look at the other side of the coin, the private supplemental insurance and health insurance companies will b out in droves to get Carl's money.
Capitalism is built less on "competition" than "cronyism".
High prices result when everyone charges the same, higher, price.
Gas prices, as just one example.
"Competition." Give me a break.
@AverageJoe1 saidYou're a hypocrite.

@AverageJoe1 saidyou didn't answer, are you a troll or imbecile
Govt has $1000 earmarked for subsidy to insurance company, to pay their CEO with, etc.
Instead, they give THAT money to the citizen. I don't know the ins and outs of the program, but any movement to that end is good by me. Gives people choices. We have a lot of choice in this country, more than any country in the world. I can't get enough of it!!!!
You sound u ...[text shortened]... in your foot on one of those cobblestone streets? Things here move to fast for cobblestone streets.
@Zahlanzi saidI am far too sophisticated to be an imbecile, and not clever enough to be a troll.

But I have to be something. If you would just say that, I am rational and logical, then you may call me anything you want. I would ask you to give me some money, but that is not a rational thing to do is it? Something just would smell about it.🤫🤫🤫
@Suzianne saidThis one should start a thread on capitalism and competition. I would be her first reader. I would not feel the need to respond as I would be laughing so much! like I have said there is a lot of entertainment on this forum.

@AverageJoe1 saidExcept your ass-licking posts about Trump aren't exactly entertaining, just sad.

@no1marauder saidIs there a mechanism for preventing consumers from spending the money on heroin, cigarettes, prostitutes, or something else? Is there a monitoring system in place? Does the govt get the money back if the consumer does not spend it in a manner deemed appropriate? Forgive my skepticism, but I strongly doubt Trump has thought this through. Simply giving money away seems like a really bad idea, rather like giving money to Third World countries without monitoring how they spend it.
Under the Republican plan, the health account money can only be spent on health insurance or health care, so it just makes the consumer a middleman with an inadequate budget.
@no1marauder saidThat's outrageous.
Under the ACA, people already select their insurance plan. The Republican plan doesn't change that, it just gives them a pathetically inadequate sum of money to do so in contrast to the present, somewhat generous subsidies.
In order to qualify for the $1,000 or $1,500 subsidy under the Republican plan, you have to purchase a bronze level plan with an average deductible ...[text shortened]... .ehealthinsurance.com/resources/individual-and-family/how-much-does-individual-health-insurance-cost

No, I mean it… Start your thread. If it will have anything to do with productive people giving things to non-productive people I will be one of your consummate readers.
@Suzianne saidBut everyone qualifies for something, you pick the best program which suits your budget and your needs. There are thousands of them. Oh, you mentioned the republicans. What in the world has that got to do with it?

@AverageJoe1 saidThe thing that benefits the MOST Americans was the continuing of subsidies for the ACA.
But everyone qualifies for something, you pick the best program which suits your budget and your needs. There are thousands of them. Oh, you mentioned the republicans. What in the world has that got to do with it?
When those Democrats CAVED IN and gave you what you wanted, in the form of opening the government, you promised to consider the continuance of those subsidies, but now you're like "Stupid says what? We never promised you anything."
What comes around goes around, MF. Talk to me about your failures after the midterms. I'll laugh in your fat face.
