URGENT - Turkish parliament approves possible operation against rebel Kurds across border in Iraq
SUZAN FRASER, Associated Press Writer

October 17, 2007 8:16 AM

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) - Parliament on Wednesday overwhelmingly approved a possible cross-border offensive against Kurdish rebels in northern Iraq, although the government appears willing to give diplomatic pressure on the U.S.-backed Iraqi administration more time to work.

Lawmakers voted 507-19 in favor of empowering the government to order the military to cross into Iraq over a one-year period. Turkish leaders have stressed that an offensive against the rebels of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, would not immediately follow the expected authorization.

Hey, could someone explain to me why exactly this is a big deal, again? Is it that Turkey might launch military operations inside the borders of Iraq against the wishes of the sovereign government there? Or is there some other concern? I honestly haven't been paying much attention to this story.

Why would it be against the UN's permission?

It isnt like they are invading an innocent country through repeated lies to envoke man-slaughter genocide.

There are terrorists that are comming repeatedly into their country and KILLING them so they want to stop it by rightfully fighting against terror unlike some who in their self-professed superiority make a worse situation.

Well you obviously dont have much money but some people do and will be investing along these lines. Up $1.48 to $87.61 with an all-time high of $101(due to economy). Hmmm maybe you would sell soon as it probably will flatline a little.

I thought it was illegal to go to war without it being made legal by the UN. The Kurds did not provoke this. The Turks have made this all up in order to take control of northern Iraq.

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about or what it has to do with Turkey approving military operations against Kurdish rebels in Iraq.

So you are siding with the Terrorist PKK in that they say they have not been crossing the border into Turkey?

I wonder if they'd be so kind as to explain it to those of us who don't, since that's what you apparently assume I am.

Any change to an environment where money is held gives cause for change not only to the environment but also the money. Other events such as rugby can can control the sharmarket. That is only the oil shares. Have you had a look to see the other shares that have moved in price.. up or down?

Note the timing is right after Pelosi tried to vote on a resolution condemning Turkey for something a hundred years ago. I'm sure it has nothing to do with that.🙄
