Very much so. One would ask however: Who's really to blame for this? Could it be the American voting public who twice voted for a free trader, eager to promote the idea of offshoring American jobs to lower costs? Or could it be the American consumer who bought those imported goods, refusing to patronize American manufacturers? Are they not one in the same? As the old saying goes...we have seen the enemy, and it is us! 😏

I agree. I think we are all responsible to one degree or another.

zeeblebot already alluded to it, but I hope that by "twice voted for a free trader, etc." that you're referring to Clinton and Bush or Clinton and someone else. Bush wasn't the one who signed NAFTA.

Clinton and G.W. Bush are equally guilty of promoting the idea of offshoring American jobs, no matter who signed NAFTA. This crosses party lines. 😏

I miss Clinton. You know its bad when a conservative misses Clinton. At least he understood the need to have a balanced budget.

Yea, we will see how much better Obama does in terms of attracting jobs to the US. LOL.

The whole problem is owned by the entire House and Senate and their continual violation of the Constitution over the past 50 years.

when a job is "off-shored" to China, why do we (in America) care only about the Americans who've lost their jobs? -- What about those people in China or wherever else who've gained jobs? Are they not human beings too?

As for buying "American"? -- if you buy a Toyota that was manufactured in the United States, does that make it an American product? What if almost all the parts were made in Mexico? Is it still an American product? What if most of the workers on the assembly line are immigrants? What if the car was designed by someone from Switzerland? What if the dealership you bought the car from is managed by someone from Singapore and the salesman you bought the car from was from Iran? What if you took out a loan from a German bank to finance your purchase? What if the gasoline you use to fuel your car comes from Venezuela?

And hopefully when you do, you can get to experience the thrill of target practice aimed at the questioner, strapped to a spinning wheel.

yes - a wonderful array of the finest international cutlery is available - but due to current trade rules, each knife can only be used in the country in which it was manufactured.

You can't blame the swimmer at the dock for drowning, when someone, while dismantling the tide barrier, was encouraging them to enjoy their swimming and just happened to forget to warn them of sudden swells!
