It's not like any other country makes statements about what's going on in the rest of the World.

Well they figure they can bully and dictate to their own citizens, why not to the rest of the world? Its called statism gone awry.

Wait. Hold on a sec. Are you implying that the US should NOT support Zelaya?

Or, if they did not support Zelaya would you say that they're doing so only because we hate left wing politicians in Latin America; whereas if we support Zelaya, we're interventionists?

Im surprised at the level of "debate" in this thread.

most posts were limited to "its not the first time this happens", but no one has discussed whether or not the US is right in bullying honduras (which is what the thread is about).

Try quoting from something other than the Wall Street Journal.

sh76 hit a nail squarely on the head with his "Wait. Hold on a sec..." post.

You should have cast your net for an op-ed piece of some kind from the "left" where the the writer has perhaps got themselves in a tangle - saying one thing now, having spent years saying the opposite - etc. etc.

That might have teed up an interesting debate - with people questioning themselves as well as each other.

But you opted - instead - for a dreary, predictable little piece from the Wall Street Journal.

And then you ask 'where's the debate?'

The United States should stay out of other peoples business. We have enough problems to contend with in our own house so do we want to spread our incompetence? The article hit the nail on the head with the executive powers. The executive powers is trying to run roughshod over the constitution here and why would another countries constitution mean diddly squat to them.

aren't hillary and obama both lawyers? they should be perfectly capable of interpreting the constitutional basis (the HONDURAN constitutional basis) for legally deposing zelaya, or of delegating the interpretation.
