Interesting. I doubt this is going to help enlistment numbers, but I suppose something is better than nothing. The military is getting desperate. This is sad.

Here's a quote from the article:

Physical standards will not be relaxed for older recruits, who the Army said were valued for their maturity and patriotism.

Now I joined when I was 19 and physically speaking boot camp was no joke even for a 19 year old. How on earth a 39 year old will manage that I don't know. Unless they're a professional athlete or something.

Next thing you know, it will be ok for gay people to enlist. I know many militant lesbian types who would love to go shoot people.

Hmm, that's a good idea. And maybe they'll stop kicking the gays out now since they're already running low on bodies.

And exactly how many militant lesbians do you know? 🙂

Well, this gives me a career option for a while if I can't get into the civilian sector. I could easily see myself studying biological or chemical warfare in the Army. I could use a little boot camp too, since I am a lazy fat fool these days.

I can see why. It was a poor attempt at humor.

You've heard of "Chemical Ali," Saddam's cousin?

It wasn't personal, just a bad joke.

[/i]I thought that it was a joke. Ft. Leonard Wood in the summer of 1966. Wow! Ten hours of strenuous activity every day! Wow. I thought that was cool. An extra five hours of rest compared to life in Star Valley for every person.

I would volunteer in a minute, but I doubt they have the imagination to use a 57 year old programmer/framer.

Too bad. I think I could at least teach these to kids.
