Rival contender Senator Barack Obama said that Mr Bush "will not let facts get in the way of his ideology... and that's been the problem with their [the Republicans] foreign policy generally."

Does the current American administration have any credibility left at all?

It's good to know that Iran was no threat after all.

the media still presents Bush as "credible"- The White House is spinning the NIE as, [big surprise] confirmation that Iran is a threat. The Bush admin says: NIE says Iran wants nukes, a confirmation of everything Bush has been saying all along [despite the Fact that the report says Iran gave up nuclear weapon progress 5 years ago]. This administration views all problems from a marketing perspective: everyone is stupid and we can "brand" Iran as Evil with the right phrasing and propaganda.

let's keep our eye on the ball here: bush, cheney and all involved are dredging the desperate depths of insanity.

true, but the desperation has increased- so the lunacy is spiraling out at exponential rates.

too bad RHP doesn't let you specify font size, or we could put the word "MAY" in REALLY BIG LETTERS.

ahmadinejad - "lalala, i don't hear you ..."

But there is bad news, too, which seems likely to be overlooked by those who have been resisting sanctions and other pressure on the mullahs all along, such as Russia, China and some members of the European Union. While U.S. intelligence agencies have "high confidence" that covert work on a bomb was suspended "for at least several years" after 2003, there is only "moderate confidence" that Tehran has not restarted the military program. Iran's massive overt investment in uranium enrichment meanwhile proceeds in defiance of binding U.N. resolutions, even though Tehran has no legitimate use for enriched uranium. The U.S. estimate of when Iran might produce enough enriched uranium for a bomb -- sometime between late 2009 and the middle of the next decade -- hasn't changed.

The very same people that have insulted U.S. Intelligence every time they have gotten a chance are now going to accept this piece of U.S. Intelligence as fact simply because they can interpret it in a way that they think supports their position. It must be nice to go through life without principles.

Gee, I wonder what could have happened in 2003 that made Iran decide to hold off on developement?

Suddenly everyone trusts American intelligence without a doubt? They were bang on about Iraq after all...

If they're wrong about this the implications are a lot worse.

If Iran had stopped developing Nuclear arms 4 years then how come Ahminadinjab was so adamant about refusing to stop?

Especially considering all the economic sanctions against Iran... Watch the politicians who were formerly hard liners against Iran capitulate and make Iran look like victims, when all the while they were playing up their nuclear and military power and making threats against the West.

How come UN inspectors were denied inspection of the very nuclear facilities they apparently were not developing? Did Iran want to hide the fact that they had nothing? I don't know, but I think there's more explaining to be done...

And how might I ask did you measure Bush/Cheney desperation? And what previous level of Bush/Cheney desperation are you comparing it against?

Just admit it, you have both BDS and the Cheney variant.

Watch out, Cheney might send Haliburton over with a rocket launcher to kill your pets.

So what is your point? We should still attack based on a there being only a "moderate confidence" they are not trying to build a n bomb??

Are you admitting the intelligence agencies of the most powerful and dangerous country in the world can't be trusted at all?

My gripe is this: These same intelligence agencies are what Bush was supposedly basing his "Iran is going to cause World War III and we should strike with our military" stance on. And now they produce a report which pretty much discredits the extent of Bush's assumptions by a long mile.

Either Bush just wasn’t listening and he wanted to manipulate his way into another war, or you have monkeys running your country that are incapable of communication.
