More like 20%. Still too much. Overall federal spending by the US Government is way out of control on all fronts not just military.

You would think that if they doubled what they spent on Justice and quadrupled what they spent on International affairs, reducing the Defence budget by 6% they would not only change the focus from a shoot first ask questions later MO thus heralding in a new era of detente and cooperation they may even end up spending less on social security as less people get shafted sideways by the system.
