US-UK trade deal

Debates

Yet another political twist ...

the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi,
said a UK-US trade deal would not get through Congress if
Brexit undermined the Good Friday Agreement.

Ms Pelosi said the UK's exit from the EU could not be allowed
to endanger the 1998 Irish peace deal, which the US helped facilitate.

Ultimatums never work.

When is this Brexit thingy going to happen?

And now Boris wants restrictions on British wine and Pork Pies lifted.
That will lift the UK economy after Brexit.

'Smart, sustainable, inclusive growth is the key to job-creation and the future prosperity of Europe. That and pork pies.'

I can understand them restricting our wine, it’s pretty naff, but I cannot believe their passing up the chance of some Melton Mowbray’s that’s insane.

I don't know but every thread lately seems to go back to Brexit.

Doesn't matter when it happens either, the conversations on it will continue.

I wonder what the market for English wine is in US?
It might have a novelty factor.
The top end English fizz is OK but wildly expensive even in UK.

Someone else said every thread was about Trump.

Unless they can undercut the established producers it will never have more than a curiosity value. On a morbid note the skills and know how they are developing might pay dividends if climate change follows its present arc.
As for the pork pies, maybe we’ve evolved a resistance to them like beer and they are more deadly than they look, but I don’t care about their problematic export image if it means more pies for me.
