Was the power of the United States an important factor in ending the Age of Imperialism?
I know the US briefly held actual colonies, and that one can use "imperialism" in a loose or metaphorical sense to describe the unmatched power of the US at the end of the 20th century through today (though for how much longer?)...
But these are not the same as actual, literal empires. I suppose that's a second point for debate but we all know where that will lead.
I suppose it could lead to immortality for this thread as the point is hashed and rehashed...
Anyway.
