In addition they have the problem of a supreme leader with the associated weaknesses of transfer of power when he dies, fear of telling the leader bad news etc. Further their demographics are terrible, their currency is not trusted by anyone and they are experiencing rapid desertification. China is in trouble. It is not going to become any more powerful than it is now.
