$2.17? For it all? I assume you mean per gallon (4.4 litres i.e. ~50c /litre. not very expenive)?

And yes Slim, I'd rather pay a bit more tax if it is used to provide healthcare for the poor or allows kids to be taken out of poverty.

Originally posted by flyUnityI'd love to be able to do that at the moment - it'd make alot more sense for me. Whilst I'm a UK citizen, I live in New Zealand, where I pay 28% personal tax. I have no entitlement to vote (quite right - i'm not a citizen), I pay Road User Charge for the upkeep of roads, and I do not get any health care, and am not entitled for unemployment or any other benefits if I'm incapacitated whilst here. The only thing that I get for my 28% apparently is the police and judicial service (neither of which I've ever used). I'd rather give my $11,000 bucks a year to a charity, but I'm rather forced to prop up the NZ government. Still, as I say, I'm happy to pay tax because there are alot of kids out there in NZ that do live in poverty and need help, so in the longer term I'm reletively happy (especially since I chose to live here in full knowledge of all these things).

I bet 50% (just guessing, I dont have the numbers) of that money goes into the goverment employees pockets before it even gets to the needy. I would much rather the goverment drop the welfare, I bet everyone would donate more to the needy because they know the goverment isnt doing it, and would do a better job then the goverment. As you probaly know the goverment cant do anything efficient.

LMFAO!! That's why you have them in charge of the military and law enforcement!!!🙄
