after the riots at various global conferences, why are you surprised at increased police presence?
maybe they should just throw the doors open next time, and invite to tea everyone who passes by.
Please read the thread before jumping in with an irrelevant comment.😛

and re the old man, maybe they'd like to give a speech or debate without uninvited people (as in, "not invited to speak"😉 jumping in and interrupting it from the audience. otherwise what's the point of having a speech?
help, help, tojo is forcibly ejecting me from his thread!!! harassment, harassment!!! ...

My reply was about the government, and not the police.
re the old man, how insecure are this government, that one old man making one comment has to be manhandled out of the building? He is a member of the Labour Party, and deserves better treatment than that. That is my whole point, and I stand by it.
Heckling from the audiences has always been a part of these conferences. I understand they might not be polite, or called for in these situations, but there is no excuse for the reaction of the stewards. Thay were heavyhanded bullies, who even forcibly removed a bloke who told them to go easy on the old bloke.
As for your parting comment, I admit to a little smirk at that. It was quite funny. Irrelevant, but funny none-the-less...
