Alright everyone here is the big question. Don't take it too seriously.

I am sure everyone knows of the slavery in the early times and the not so early times of the United States, and the question is, Is the jazz and blues we have now worth the horrible cruelties we did then?

Alright there it is.

Why not? We really do got some great music because of it. Miles Davis, Coltraine, Parker, Monk, and so many others. Without the mixture of European harmony and African improvisational call and response jazz would have never existed.

Absolutely, yes. America should be proud of it's music and thankful to the black community for that gift.

I guess I'm confused about the question. Is the premise that if there were no slavery there wouldn't be jazz or blues? That's a reach!

who knows. the fact is slavery set some circumstances that may or may not have given birth to jazz. the fact remains that it would be quite nazi of us to be glad slavery took place just so we could listen to some kind of music. i doubt even the cure to cancer would be worth the years of slavery. don't forget that the nazi doctors were prepared to kill countless of people to discover new drugs and to better understand the human body. would they have been allowed to continue who knows what they would have discovered. but would you have taken, say, the immortality vaccine from them knowing how it was obtained?

Given that premise...then no it wasn't worth it.

Yes it was well worth it if you think about it.
Slavery was common place for centuries until it moved to America.
In a relatively short time it was abolished and for the most part world wide shortly after. Even the Jewish people were Slaves during the times of Moses. Since the times shortly after the Civil war, it hasn't been a common practice in any country that I'm aware of.
The Jazz part of the question is separate. I think it sucks but that's just my opinion. Sounds like a bunch of kids finding their parent's instruments and making random sounds. 🙂

If we new before hand that was the music we would get we never would have traded. It is good admitebly but nothing I can think of that is of material value is worth all that pain and suffering.
