Week 11 Obedience

God gave us His word not only to increase our knowledge about Him but to change our lives. Only as we apply truth to our lives---obey the scripture---will there be any significant changes made.

1. Circle key words and phrases in the following Scriptures.

Why do you call me, “Lord, Lord,” and do not do what I say?
Luke 6:46

Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter:
Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
Ecclesiastes 12:13

*Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.
Deuteronomy 6:5-6

Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.
John 14:21

The man who says, I know him, but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1 John 2:4

This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome.
1 John 5:3

2. What do we learn about obedience in:
Luke 6:46
John 14:21
Ecclesiastes 12:13
1 John 2:4
Deuteronomy 6:5-6
1 John 5:3

Thank you. This lesson on obedience will be a most appropriate one for me to review as I take my first few steps along the path toward rehabilitation. I find this much too serendipitous to not be the hand of God at work.

Is this fine text by the author of Ecclesiastes also a command from God, or merely exemplary teachings on how to please a woman?

"How beautiful you are and how pleasing, O love, with your delights! Your stature is like that of the palm, and your breasts like clusters of fruit. I said, 'I will climb the palm tree; I will take hold of its fruit.' May your breasts be like the clusters of the vine, the fragrance of your breath like apples, and your mouth like the best wine. May the wine go straight to my lover, flowing gently over lips and teeth."

Your question is irrelevent and clearly you are a tool of Satan. One must believe in Jesus Christ to be saved. You could use some lessons in "obedience."
