@AverageJoe1 saidYOUR hypothetical was a Martian landing a space ship wouldn't have any rights. So how is my response to YOUR bringing a breed of dog into the discussion changing the terms? You really have no clue how to debate.
Ha, you add another element to whom would qualify for due process. It used to be, Wednesday I think, that one need only be sentinet. So I go to all that effort to dispell your ridiculous argument, heading for an easy summary judgement, and you call for a recess to change your pleadings to the befuddled judge......who may have a little collie at home. He would still ga ...[text shortened]... a, will you say much then? Don't want to lose your following. Mott and MB and Cliff will forge on.
Trump's been an utter fiasco this time around even worse than his first term.
@AThousandYoung saidThat is a bit of a moot point since there are no Martians and never were and never will be unless humans set up shop on Mars.
Personhood is required for these rights according to the Fifth Amendment.
Unfortunately what defines "personhood" is not obvious or well defined either.
Sapient Martians could in principle send out non-sapient war beasts or livestock from their ship.
Right now the sphere of our broadcasts cover a diameter of about 200 light years and if there was a civilization with tech like ours they could detect us and send a signal back but even at that supposing they did that it would be another 100 years before we got an answer and of course that bubble gets 2 light years bigger each year so a hundred years from now the bubble will be four hundred light years across and the same thing goes on. With our own tech we could detect our own broadcasts if we were 400 light years away so anyone with radio telescopes as sensitive as ours could detect our transmissions a lot further than 400 light years.
Just saying it is highly unlikely for any aliens to be showing up to test the personhood theory.
@no1marauder saidOff you go, all hot headed. Sue, tell the honorable Marauder that he said yesterday that a being that is sentient would, by its very nature, qualify for due process. Whew. Be sure he says, “ Yes, I said and believe that”. Stop him if he adds anything at this point to his statement.

Next, tell him that a collie (any dog) is sentient.
Then ask if the dog has due process
That is all that I posed, and he became racked with angst. Watch out if he throws links your way.
Get back to me with a PM.
@sonhouse saidThanks for that.

You could help here.
Can a dog qualify for due process?
Can an oyster?
Is there a difference? Obvious that you are a scientist of sorts. Certainly ahead of my abilities.
PS: all due respects, it most certainly is NOT moot, you silly goose. It is the issue! Geez
@AverageJoe1 saidGFY. Perhaps I used the wrong word (though as ATY's link showed that "sentient" is often used, perhaps incorrectly, as a synonym for human like intelligence) but that doesn't change the fact your original claim was that a being that has the technology and mental capacity to land a space ship on Earth sill wouldn't have any rights.

Care to defend that assertion?
@no1marauder saidI would think that my asking you,..... If a martian walked illegally into our country and was caught absorbing a chicken in a farmer's barn, would he have due process rights....that you could answer the question in as normal a fashion as I wrote it.

You cannot answer questions. Rather, you pontificate. Sorry to get personal, but tit for tat.
express one's opinions in a way considered annoyingly pompous and dogmatic.
@Cliff-Mashburn saidYou think cockroaches have rights to due process before I squish them?
He was right the first time, it's sentient.
You aren't as sapient as you think you are.
Umm no.
Xenomorphs from the Alien movies are sentient but they would not have rights.
@AverageJoe1 saidYou still refuse to answer the question.

I answered your question though I might have used an incorrect, though widely used, term.
Pathetic.
@AThousandYoung saidThat's a bit unclear; didn't they do planning like cutting the lights in Aliens?

Hudson: "How can they cut the power, man? They're animals!"
@no1marauder
Can ANYONE answer this question??

Def of Answer: a thing said, written, or done to deal with or as a reaction to a question, statement, or situation.
@AverageJoe1 saidI did answer it. https://www.redhotpawn.com/forum/debates/another-trans-girl-wins-two-state-championships.202789/page-28#post_4854673

Why do you constantly play this stupid game?
You refuse to answer mine.
@no1marauder saidThe power went out in Jurassic Park too I think but that doesn’t make a velociraptor sapient

Wait nvm it was a human that turned it off
But maybe I’m wrong about XM IDK
@AThousandYoung
I can understand why y'all are upset. Your beloved Iran gets ass kicked by Trump. Promise made, promise kept, as we Americans like to say. You will never have nuclear weapons, he said. A sort of funny and hilarious way for him to make a promise, Watch what positive vibes will erupt all across Europe and the East.
@AverageJoe1 saidWhat do I want?
Your people are in Tucson and other cities just raising hell. You are behind all of this. One of the signs says to get rid of ICE.
Do y'all want no ICE? Does that mean no order? Does that mean just let the illegals and the protestors and jew haters and their financial supporters and criminals all over the world, all over the world, come into this world' greatest ...[text shortened]... as a brother. He will get rich,, I, hiding from your lot, will stay rich. What will YOU be doing??
I want the Trump administration to recognize the First Amendment. Maybe the 14th, too.
@AverageJoe1 saidThe Constitution specifies 'people' or 'persons' throughout. No need to jump through hoops to satisfy your bizarro thought processes.
