Often nations like the U.S. will overlook atrocities from allies for various reasons, such as to continue benefiting from trade, strategic military advantages, oil, etc.
But what does the U.S. gain from it's alliance with Israel? This partnership seems completely one-sided; billions in aid and advanced weaponry, the U.S. gets....what?
Predictably, someone's going to claim the U.S. has a moral right to defend Israel; to that, why just Israel and not other nations in the region like Yemen? Why does the U.S. abandon the Kurds?
Remember when conservatives cheered after Trump threatened to pull out of NATO, saying other nations weren't "paying their fair share"? So what about Israel? What are they paying for this alliance? At least Israel can defend itself from the surrounding nations (more so compared to some NATO members).
And yes: I know there are American military bases in Israel. But is that it? Can anyone shed some light?

Just 2. There are more.
@vivify saidYour analysis is correct on the surface.

Israel is a puppet nation of the empire and the USA is part of that empire. Israel being a puppet nation is the only thing that makes sense.
There is your answer. Obviously, some people will not want to accept the truth, but there it is.
@vivify saidIsrael has been a reliable ally that does not support fundamental Islamic terrorisms (you might remember 9-11). In a region where basic western rights (like whether woman should be allowed to drive is controversial) Israel which shares western values is an appealing vision on what basic rights people should have. Israel shares military help and fights against our common enemies such as Iran.

Maybe a better question would be what do other countries which the US calls it allies actually do for the US?
The post that was quoted here has been removedOnly an extraordinarily biased person would think an alleged attack that occurred more than 5 decades ago matches the violations of the Arab world. Arab countries give refuge to terrorists who bombed our Pentagon this century, who knocked down the World Trade Center this century, who shoot at our troops, who wish to destroy our way of life. If Arab countries were more open in prosecuting these militant groups the US would be more supportive of their concerns.
The post that was quoted here has been removedYour post is stupid. Do you want to explain to US citizens why we should overlook the role of Arabs in 9-11 or for Iran hostages or for Iraq wars? The US supports Israel because unlike you it understands that Israel is far more reliable than the Arab world.
@quackquack saidArab extremists in many countries have come out openly and threatened to kill, destroy or damage Americans [British as well] and their interests all over the world. Israel stands a beacon of light in an area of darkness.

@quackquack saidThen why were conservatives okay with Trump selling weapons to Saudi Arabia?
Israel has been a reliable ally that does not support fundamental Islamic terrorisms (you might remember 9-11). In a region where basic western rights (like whether woman should be allowed to drive is controversial)
Why were no conservatives upset that Trump had long been in a business relationship with Saudi Arabia, a country where two of the 9/11 hijackers came from?
If your claim was true, conservatives would've been in an uproar over Trump's coziness with terrorist regimes like Saudi Arabia that beheads journalists.
