Radical Apathy sounds like a misnomer. Radicals are usually on the fringe. Radicals see ordinary everyday events, but interpret these events differently. Some radicals speak out loudly, others are silent and let their actions speak for themselves. When political radicals stir the normally apathetic majority to action, then we have a real revolution on our hands. If the radicals in our population become apathetic, then human progress will stop. I don't think this is possible on a global basis, but it does happen. It happened once in China, during the 60's and 70's, when they killed off many of their artists & intelligentsia. Finally, I think freedom of speech promotes radicalism. That is to say, that is combats apathy. A healthy society produces its fair share of radicals. This promotes change among the apathetic masses. Starvation, disease, natural disaster, almost any adversity tends to affect a healthy society in a positive way. It can spell doom for an unhealthy, apathetic society.

You cannot gauge how healthy a society is by how many so-called "Radicals" there are. Plus, you state when there are many "Radicals" stirring the pot, there is a revolution at hand. How can that add to the health of any society?

Maybe I'm not understanding your meandering post very well. Am I the only one?

I intended to wait till my kids were a bit older. Do you think 11 is ok then?
