@vivify saidYour logic: African American men impregnate several women and leave them to impregnate yet another, creating a line of fatherless kids. Why ? Because of white supremacy. .. Lol 🙂 .. you are such an astute man.
Your logic: more people die from car crashes than from lynching, therefore driving should be banned if lynching is.
Dumbass.
@zahlanzi saidThis. Exactly.
religious freedom means you are free to practice your religion withing the confines of a state. It doesn't mean you override that state's laws and it doesn't mean your religious freedom emanates into other people's lives.
You don't get to say "my god doesn't want me to pay taxes". It doesn't mean "my god wants YOU to do something so you must otherwise i feel persecuted"
In other news the US is fast becoming a theocracy and americans are losing their freedom.
@rajk999 saidare those children being thrown in the pool by their parents?
350 children die every year in the USA by drowning in swimming pools.
I say ban all pools.
Did vivify say "ban all prayers"?
Are you a moron?
So many questions
I don't care a religious person prays. I don't care a religious person prays on the side of the hospital bed their kid is in.
If however a religious person prays at home, next to the very sick child they refused to take to a doctor, i very much care. That person is a religious freak and is endangering their child. If that child dies, that person is responsible of negligence and whatever degree murder the law dictates and should be put in jail.

@rajk999 saidwho the fuk mentioned african americans and white supremacy.

The fatherless kids talking point is what you right wing lunatics keep spewing and it has no relevance here (it doesn't have any relevance anywhere to be honest but here is especially idiotic)
@wildgrass saidSaying their religious freedom is being curtailed is ridiculous in the extreme.
... thereby rendering religious freedom completely a moot point in the context of the gay website creator?
No one is stopping them from choosing what church they go to or keeping them from believing what they believe. That is religious freedom. That has zero to do with what your religion says about your clients. Discrimination, which is what this is, SHOULD still be illegal. In making discrimination legal, the Supreme Court is now heading directly down the same road as the Third Reich in the 30s. We should hold them directly responsible for whatever happens next. Concentration camps or ghettos for gays and trans?
@rajk999 saidYour God is frowning at you. By all means, keep going. Follow that road to its end.

@vivify saidThat's a pretty narrow window of the law, then, in which this would apply.
It some cases in can trump certain government mandates, like fighting in a war when doing so is against your beliefs.
Mohammed Ali refusing to fight in Vietnam is one famous example.
Thanks.
@wildgrass
A good topic, Wildgrass, and I come in from a different angle here.
Religion plays no role, as far as I am concerned. I am a Libertarian and I am all about *Freedom*
The government should not use force to get this webmaster to do what the customer wants, that's *slavery*
that simple
@wildgrass saidThat's not the only area, it's just one example. Another would be in government-run facilities where head gear like hats are banned (like in a prison or the Senate floor, etc.)
That's a pretty narrow window of the law, then, in which this would apply.
Thanks.
These places usually have religious exceptions. A school can ban kids from wearing hats but can't ban hijab...though I'm not sure if this would apply to, say, a catholic school. That would be an interesting discussion whether they can fire gay teachers or ban outward displays of other religions.
@earl-of-trumps saidZahlanzi put the perfect definition up there already.
Freedom of Religion has some serious drawbacks.
Sharia Law allows for the killing of homosexuals. Society does not. Something must give.
Religious freedom within the context if State law.
So there is no room for Sharia law, within Western democracies.
But, like a football club banning a member, so can religious organisations “administer punishments”.
If you disagree with any such verdict, use the State system to get proper justice.
In other words, the bishop can say and what he wants, if he rapes a kid, he’s bound by State law and not by God’s.

@earl-of-trumps saidTell that to someone who knows what slavery actually is and at best, they'd only laugh in your face.

Slavery. Good grief. Put the crack pipe down.
@earl-of-trumps saidAre you advocating Sharia Law then?

Do you dream about it?
