@averagejoe1 saidIt’s what you get when years of institutional racism leads to a completely squint representation.
Can you fellers weigh in on this? I assume that we would all be against it???

I personally don’t actually agree with the method they’re choosing, but it is understandable.
And if such a method is chosen, it should have limitations built in, for example: “until representation X is achieved.” Or “for 5 years.” Something like that.
But it’s a rather blunt instrument. And it is rather strange.
Let me expand a little on that:
Normally, when changing things like representation, you do it on the intake side. So, new teachers, when there’s a choice between two candidates who are exactly equal in every respect, you hire the minority candidate… until representation X is achieved.
This option targets the “leaving”. And even then, “the laying off”. Since when are schools sacking teachers in numbers to make a difference? Generally there’s a teacher shortage.
And in so saying, I could argue that it’s window dressing or that the article is rubbish.
@averagejoe1 saidOld news, try to keep up.

Or just join the racists in the other thread talking about how black people aren't smart enough to be teachers.
@averagejoe1 saidI'd be against it if the majority white teacher's union didn't volunteer to this, with their stated goal being to make up for past racism that directly lead to lack of diversity in hiring.

It's not racism if they're agreeing to do it to themselves.

@suzianne saidHey, there you are. Could you respond to that other thread?

You know...in the interest of keeping up?

@averagejoe1 saidDid you miss Vivs inconvenient truth that a majority white teachers union have come up the idea.

@vivify saidOur founding fathers were very concern about the majority imposing taking away the rights of smaller groups even if they voted on things. That is why we have the Bill of Rights. It is racism if you are losing your job because of you race and whether others agreed on this arrangement is completely irrelevant.

@quackquack saidYes you are right. Whites make up a disproportionately marginalized group in America and everything must be done to ensure that their minority rights are not lost!

@quackquack saida) Whites are not "smaller groups"

b) The majority decided to do this to themselves, not to a minority
c) Therefore not "racism".
@quackquack saidYou drive home the point that we need an electoral college. Thankyou! No on ever listens to ole AvJoe.

Of course race is not relevant.
@vivify saidCould we maybe start with the disproportionate actors on our tv commercials? Gets boring to tell you the truth....
Exactly.
@vivify saidIt certainly is racism. If we have a vote and we decide that blacks lose their job and then you (a black person) lose your job you absolutely have a claim of racism.

Similarly, if we have a vote on the same issue and we decided that white people lose their job and then you (white person) lose your job you 100% have the same claim of racism.
All other facts including motive are completely irrelevant and losing your rights because of race should indisputably always be actionable.
@quackquack saidThis really is all nutty, you are right.

But, this question ...There are about 9300 shades of black, et al, et al, how do you know what is what? What color what race was the cretin who shot all the children in Austin? How do you know? If they say to fire black people, in your premise, how do you determine who is black, are a little bit black, ,or somewhere in the middle, maybe a white daddy, what is the deal?
I just don't get all this race conversation , never have. Now Culture?!?!?!?? Now That's a problem.
