Alabama crowd cheers state's low vaccination rate during Marjorie Taylor Greene event
Recently surfaced video from a July political fundraiser in Alabama featuring Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) showed attendees cheering when the GOP lawmaker pointed out that the state had one of the lowest COVID-19 vaccination rates in the country.
The video showed Greene speaking from a podium at the July 23 fundraiser, which the Alabama Political Reporter noted was held by the Alabama Federation of Republican Women.
The remark prompted a wave of laughs and cheers
According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Alabama is tied with Mississippi for the lowest percentage of fully vaccinated residents
@vivify saidThe ironic thing is that it seems she's vaccinated herself.

It's almost like throwing a maskless party after telling everyone else they should mask.
🤔
@sh76 saidMost of the GOP anti vax lawmakers have done the same thing, they pound the pulpit, wailing against vaccines, while sneaking off after their speeches to get vaccinated themselves.
The ironic thing is that it seems she's vaccinated herself.

@sh76 saidAs I said before, Obama should have masks in light of thie Delta variant; but the party was initially set up during a time the CDC had already started to relax mask mandates. Your attempt to paint Obama as a hypocrite is incorrect.

But let's not drag this off topic. It's pretty sad conservatives are actually laughing at low vaccination rates as if that's something to be proud of.
@vivify saidAs I agree with your central point, I'll leave it at that.

Faucii cool with Obama deal, including jets bringing them in, what with a tent FULL of people worried.about our climate. But then he is SO upset about thousands, thousands, converged in sturgis Idaho for motorfest.
But y’all can’t really make sense of it enough to defend it? Exactly. The hypocrisy, in every shadow.

I just read an article on Texas. Holy hell.
Less than 44% of people there vaccinated.
9000 people in hospital because of Covid.
And in the the whole of the US roughly 450 people a day are dying from corona.
And still they don’t want vaccinated. Still Texas opposes simple measures.
Turkeys, Christmas… just sayin’…

@shavixmir saidThe article in the OP states that only 35 percent of people in Mississippi and Alabama are fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, the red state you mentioned of Texas just experienced the second-highest spike for COVID hospitalization in the country. At the same time, Florida has the highest rate of children being hospitalized for COVID.
Yet all these states continue to cheer anti-vax and anti-COVID measures.
@vivify saidMeanwhile, Greg Abbott, Governor of Texas, has made mask mandates, such as might be set by counties or school districts, illegal.

@suzianne saidGodspeed, Governor Abbott. Thank Goodness there's still some sanity in public policymaking.
Meanwhile, Greg Abbott, Governor of Texas, has made mask mandates, such as might be set by counties or school districts, illegal.
Making children wear useless cloth masks which have no proven benefits is unconscionable.

However, covering the lower half of the face reduces the ability to communicate, interpret, and mimic the expressions of those with whom we interact. Positive emotions become less recognizable, and negative emotions are amplified. Emotional mimicry, contagion, and emotionality in general are reduced and (thereby) bonding between teachers and learners, group cohesion, and learning – of which emotions are a major driver. The benefits and burdens of face masks in schools should be seriously considered and made obvious and clear to teachers and students.

Of course, nobody with children really needs the links. That forcing little kids to mask up all day in school and when with friends is bad is axiomatic.
If parents want to mask their kids, fine. I think it's a bad idea, but it's within parental discretion. But a district FORCING it? Unconscionable.
@sh76 saidThey wouldn't have to wear masks "all day", only when walking around. They're allowed to take masks off at their desks (where they spend the majority of their day), much like most restaurants.

The article you posted is irrelevant.
@sh76 saidChildren are required to be vaccinated before they can attend schools. Do you agree with Metal Brain that "forcing" vaccines is wrong?

That's what you sound like.
