Children are required to be vaccinated before they can attend schools. Do you agree with Metal Brain that "forcing" vaccines is wrong?

That's what you sound like.
Please. Vaccination doesn't hurt children. They get a shot and it hurts for maybe 5 seconds and then it's over.

Please don't compare that to wearing a mask 8 hours a day when in a classroom and during recess.

They wouldn't have to wear masks "all day", only when walking around. They're allowed to take masks off at their desks (where they spend the majority of their day), much like most restaurants.

The article you posted is irrelevant.
===They're allowed to take masks off at their desks===

Really, now? Are you sure that no mask mandates are going to force children to mask while seated? I haven't seen that.

Anyway, if they really do allow the masks to come off when the kids are seated, then the whole thing is meaningless COVID theater, because while seated in the same room for hours on end with 30 other kids is exactly where COVID is MOST likely to spread.

You're missing the point. Metal Brain would insist they do hurt, they kill children, etc. You and I know they don't hurt children, but you're using similar types of arguments.

Masks don't "hurt" children. They've already had to wear masks during school in most of the country for over a year, in addition to wearing them in stores, doctor's offices, etc.

So, we're going to mask them during recess when they're outdoors and constantly in motion and when COVID is unlikely to spread and NOT mask them when seated in a poorly ventilated classroom for 3 hours aerosolizing their germs in the same air to be blown around the room by HVAC systems?

This makes so much darn sense.

For the 99th time, wearing a mask when spending 10 minutes in a supermarket isn't a BFD. Wearing a mask for 8 hours in school every single day is mild torture.

Children have been in "poorly ventilated classrooms" since the 1800s. That's nothing new. You know, except for the global pandemic of a constantly mutating virus that gets more contagious and deadly with time.

As far as wearing masks outside, you have a point. I'd be in favor of them not wearing masks outdoors, so long as social-distancing can somehow still be enforced.

I have an eight-year-old who only has to wear masks in school when walking around. He can take them off when sitting at his desk or sitting in the cafeteria.

Stop with the ridiculous histrionics. Last year, ten of millions of workers - bus drivers, grocery store clerks, servers at restaurants, bartenders etc. etc. - had to wear masks for 8 hours a day and somehow they were able to endure this awful "torture".

Good for your school.

Not every school is so magnanimous.

I imagine very few of the bus drivers and restaurant workers were six years old.

So would you agree to a ban on schools requiring students to mask while seated at their desks?

And that matters ................................................... how?

Surely most didn't want to, but they did it because it was required. School is a coercive environment anyway, so what is the big deal requiring kids to do something? They probably don't want to sit at their desks all day either; maybe they should be freed from that "torture" too.

Since when did the preferences of children override the public health?

It all depends on the reason.

If the reason is because highly educated experts from well-respected organizations outline what the need for such recommendations are, then sure.
