We don't care what they think, it's part of our national psyche.

Why so touchy?
This is for fun, no axe to grind here.
DOO, do you always act stupid?
Oh, pardon me, it's not an act.

When the U.K. was the powerhouse of the world people hated the Brits.

The USA has been the powerhouse for awhile and people hate the Americans.

Eventually another country will be the world power and people will hate them too.

I think it's a psychological thing 🤔

I didn't notice much(any) hate,
really just differences.

That had more to do with the British being brutal colonizers.

All of 'em. The Spanish weren't exactly
benevolent rulers. French or Belgium as well.

And yet the commonwealth remains a strong alliance.

I don't know about "strong".

Barbados recently celebrated independence, and just a few years ago, the Queen had to beg N. Ireland to not let her be "the last Queen" of the UK. Be glad that referendum came before Brexit and not after.

Never could really understand
Canada's Dominion status.
Anyone?

She had to beg Scotland not to leave.

You’d have remembered the riots on the news when N. Ireland has a referendum to leave the UK and join the Republic.

As I remember it it was the English government who was doing most of the begging, Scotland actually makes them money, they’d get rid of N. Ireland or Wales in a heartbeat.

There is an old saying:
'Ultimate power corrupts ultimately'

So far it's been proven quite true.

I agree.

That's why "communism" never makes it past the temporary dictator stage 😉
