What I don't understand is what you are supposedly "fighting for" - why do you still have a protest and what is it?
From what I can see is that the very same people who are abusive and disruptive here manage to be polite and constructve on Cribs' site, so what is their continual beef? What do you want to see changed?
Why can't you just draw a line underneath it and try afresh and see if things here have actually improved since Cribs' ban, cos there's no way he's coming back is there?

I'm dealing with the posts in front of me: yours and Rapalla7. Please point to where I have been abusive and disruptive - I believe I've refrained from calling people "Nazis" "scum" etc. unlike some other members of the community (who apparently CAN be abusive and disruptive and receive a one day slap on the wrist). My positions on matters regarding moderation are on the public record and I've tried to discuss such matters civilly. Are you saying differently?

You have NO idea about the numbers here, who uses the forums and who doesn't and why. None. You are making up statistics to support a claim.
What you can observe is this: Of the people who use the forums, most people DON'T engage in flame wars. Those who do get moderated as needed.
What I objected to in Rapalla's post was this idea: 'The moral of the story is that people are very happy with what they have, usually; until this troll tells them they arent, or manipulates them to think that they are not...'
I don't subscribe to the philosophy that 'Ignorance is bliss.' Someone who is happy and learns why s/he shouldn't be happy hasn't been ruined, s/he's been educated. Rapalla's post suggests that people shouldn't say anything controversial simply because it might rock the boat. I object to this, wholly and completely, because the result is 'Brave New World' or 'Fahrenheit 451' or '1984.'
My quote referred to the 'Brave New World' construct. Perhaps you misunderstood it because it was so obviously referential. I don't think 'a few people' need to wake up here any more than any other place; it was in response to the idea that people shouldn't be awakened.
