There was a time when the best music was coming out of the UK, the Yardbirds, Cream, Led Zeppelin, the Who, the Beatles, the Stones. One might even put U2 in there if they hadn't gone pop. But these days UK rock just plain sucks. All you see out of the UK now is pop crap. Where did the heart and soul go?
yeah youre basically right, but the us is doing damn all too.
the action is in the black music sector.

rock is still going strong but doesnt get much playtime anymore.
i reckon rock has more or less been done already so the new bands are trying to do something different but ending up being dull as hell.

Yes, the main problem is that the UK singles charts (which consists mainly of teeny bopper $h*te because the music industry have a target audience of between around the ages of 13 and 16) tend to drown out all the quality. The album charts are a little better but you really need to hunt around away from the mainstream.

The Libertines' Up The Bracket was the last great rock album to come out of the UK. Everything else has been crap/mediocre/good for one or two listens since then and about five years before as well; including everything Pete Crackhead has done since then.

Basically, if you find yourself anywhere in NME, you suck.

(This is probably the harshest and most irrational post I have ever written but damn, did it ever feel good!!)

If I can get my microphone to pick up my voice and my guitar simultaneously (it's one of the tiny microphones for Skype), there might be a depressingly bad acoustic versioni of 'Time for Heroes' in the RHP Music Competition.

i thought rock was dead until i saw a live band last saturday in north london, Black Moses, they definitely brought it back to life

check out their website

but as you can guess, they are 1000% more powerful live on stage than listening to an mp3.
