Whatever happened to UK rock?

There was a time when the best music was coming out of the UK, the Yardbirds, Cream, Led Zeppelin, the Who, the Beatles, the Stones. One might even put U2 in there if they hadn't gone pop. But these days UK rock just plain sucks. All you see out of the UK now is pop crap. Where did the heart and soul go?

I believe the heart and soul went the way of the dodo...and is it just me or doesn't the Libertines sound like a type of cracker.

Most of the new stuff, and especially the popular stuff, is utter tripe. The Manic Street Preachers (Welsh) are still churning out the good stuff though, of which three free songs are available here:
