Also: is there a time limit on doing so? George Washington was a cruel slave owner who was not only known to beat his slaves, but seems to have forcibly removed healthy teeth from slaves to make dentures for himself.
Has it been long enough that we should just shrug it off and celebrate Washington anyway? Or does he a get pass due to the time he lived in? There's been a movement to remove Columbus Day as a holiday due his perception as a cruel man who enslaved people. Should Washington's birthday get the same treatment?

No, it's not. Chinatown is a Polanski film, and one of my all time favorites. Banning or suppressing someone's work because you don't like their behavior won't change who they are or what they have done, in addition banning only feeds into people's "plain brown wrapper" psychology, making the banned or boycotted item even more sought after. Your instincts are honorable, but law enforcement has more effective tools to deal with criminal's.

Generally speaking I do think the art should be viewed seperately from the artist.
Picasso was mean to women and Dali was pro-Franco. Their art is some of the greatest.

I hope all conservatives avoid "wokeness" like the plague so that we can all see them for what they are. We should celebrate people sticking to their principles even though you try to demean it by calling it "woke".
