@vivify saidIf you can find a restaurant that isn't working at reduced efficiency (or closed) due to too many of the staff home with Covid.
If true, that's supremely idiotic.
I don't get why children can't simply remove masks once their at their seats, like at restaurants.
I don't understand what is wrong with this country. Too many of us don't want to be inconvenienced for a few weeks to beat this virus. That's it. If we all got on the same page about masking and vaccinations, this could be over in weeks. But people are selfish. That's all it is.
@averagejoe1 saidYou're punching a wall over a hypothetical hypocrisy? How about a real one?
Good thread. Each side sees hypocrisy on the other, that is what keeps it interesting. So, here is one from our side.
A restaurant, called the red hen restaurant, refused to serve sarah sanders. (huckabee's daughter, a Repub).
Do you think the owners of the restaurant would support the right of a bakery to refuse to bake a wedding cake for a gay marriage?
@shallow-blue saidI got presumably Omicron a few weeks ago and have recovered.
Schools are, right now, the main hubs for spreading Corona.
Vaccinate your sprogs and mask them up, at the very least. But if even slightly possible, switch to remote learning.
It's not the working adults who are spreading Corona right now. It's the playing children.
I realize Omicron is both more contagious and less serious than prior variants. So this only applies as of a couple of weeks ago.
But I believe that given an informed choice between catching Omicron versus continued social distancing, wearing masks for the rest of the year, and getting 1 or 2 more boosters, I think most would choose to just get Omicron.
@shallow-blue saiddata source?

I'm truly thankful you're not running my kids' schools.

Do you have any evidence of this?

Ignorant
If I have to hear the word 'filibuster' one more time, one more time, I'm just going to snap. What a dumb word. Where did that word even come from? Can't we use a normal word like 'procrastinate'? At least that has a more precise connotation to it, because that's what is really going on. Senators aren't filibustering... senators are procrastinating. When a political party procrastinates they're telling all the people who voted for them that they're not willing to discuss the issue until tomorrow. Let's go ahead and take off early today, hit the local pub, heck maybe we'll do the same tomorrow and the day after that too. Instead of telling people we're just not doing our jobs, we'll tell them we are 'filibustering' because that sounds like a better word.
And while we're at it, what happened to real filibusters? You know, the one's where the senator had to stand there and literally talk for days. Wear a diaper. If we're in the mood to respect tradition then why don't they have to do that anymore? I think I would actually respect the process a lot more if there was just a little bit of work put into it. Nowadays all they have to do is announce that they are filibustering but then they go home and take a nap. I want them reading from Dostoevsky. I want the procrastinators to squirm.
Otherwise they could actually debate legislation publicly. Stop tweeting little sarcastic quips about it and talk. Explain why you like something or don't like something. Ask that certain elements are removed and describe why you'd like it removed. Assert a position in which you are voting against it for specific reasons.
Sheesh. We voted for these procrastinators?
@wildgrass saidtotal ignorance...it takes sixty votes to go to a final vote once a filibuster starts. a final vote only requires 51

@mott-the-hoople saidHow long have the procrastinators been complaining about illegal immigration? How many times have they lifted a finger to fix it in a meaningful way?

They're all just your drunk uncle complaining about the weather. Vote 'em all out.

@mott-the-hoople saidRight. Trump didn't fix it. Just like my plumber. The leak starts right back up again after he leaves.

Not a single piece of immigration legislation.
@wildgrass saidThe president doesnt make laws, that is congress’s job…are you ignorant of that?

@wildgrass saidHere’s real. The red hen exists, and they refused to seat her. Some gays tried to get a bakery to bake a cake depicting 2 people of same sex getting married.

Are you joshing me? Why did you suggest it is hypothetical ? You are acting like a liberal person.
Since you now know it is real, what would be your answer!
