Please understand that there is no intended sarcasm by this question but it seems to me many of the debates here are centered around religious beliefs. Whether one is an atheist, christian, buddhist, whatever. So, with the utmost respect and honesty, I ask anyone their theory of how the human race came into existence? I'm really hoping not to get any of the easy surface answers (i.e. the "Big Bang" or Creationism) because I am familiar with most of those and those are the ones to lead into debates which seem to me, get nowhere. I also understand this is the "debate" forum. I respect many of the opinions I see expressed here so I am curious as to what your feelings are. I will attempt to answer my own question first:

I'm, for lack of a better definition, agnostic. I have been exposed to the Catholic Church for about 12 years and had a very brief experience with Christianity. Again, with all due respect to both ideals and principles, neither were a fit for me. I cannot accept atheism either though simply because the thought of no type of existence after this one is just too depressing to me. So it is my armchair philosopher point of view that there is a "spirituality" in the universe in which each one of us are our own "creator". In other words, I believe in some sense we "willed" ourselves into existence and I think this idea stems for Extentialism ideas but if anyone knows the wiser please let me know and thanks in advance 🙂

Who would there be to appreciate creation's splendour if it didn't have intelligent life? Lets just say I've always liked the concept that we are the culmination of creation's vanity. 😉

So are you implying that all of us came from some greater collective consciousness?

I'm pretty sure there's a substantial group of humans who originated from ostrich eggs.

Humanity is a natural result of the laws of physics at work in the universe.

Are you implying that vanity comes only from consciousness?

If you want to have a meaningful discussion of where we came from? I think it is important to discuss who "we" are.

Attempting not to sound like a child but if you are correct, where do you believe these laws of physics at work come from?

Yes I think that is what I am implying. That all things, including "vanity" come from consciousness. I think even subconsciousness comes from some form of consciousness.

I think the entire subject matter is meaningful and not necessarily in any particular order. Could you please explain what you mean by "who" we are?

You know? I made it about 3/4 of the way into a response, but it's too much work right now. Continue on. Disregard my last post.

LOL!!! Fair enough. I don't really have a great answer for that one either but I think you might be on to something....I guess I am looking for the ultimate answer but I am not sure of what question I am trying to ask?

I don't know. Why do they have to "come from" anywhere? If they did come from somewhere else, or were created by someone, where did that person or place come from? How does it make more sense to add a creator of the laws when we can ask the same questions of the creator we ask of the laws?

The laws of physics probably always been, but maybe not. I don't know.
