The United States of America is in need of help, for once. As mostm or all, of you probably know, Hurricane Katrina has devasted cities throughout the gulf coast, most notably New Orleans. In many cities, no buildings are standing, there is no food, and people are waiting to be rescued from their roof tops. Some cities cannot even be reached, because roads have been either washed completely away, or damaged so bad that they are unusable. The sick and injured are in hospitals that are trying to treat those in need, and they dont even have water.

When a similar situation, on a larger scale, occured earlier in the year, (the tsunami) the United States was laughed at by foreign nations for,at first, contributing about 30 million dollars to the reliefe effort. I'm not sure the final number, but in the end, the U.S. donated something like half a billion dollars for sunami relief. We flew planes loads of people to help the injured and homeless people, and help try to rebuild their contries.

Undoubtedly, the leaders of other major countries have seen the images, and know of our situation, but NOBODY has come to our aid. Well now the shoe is on the other foot, and America is in need of help. I guess we will see who our real friends are in these coming weeks.

EDIT: It's just the usual response to stuff like this ie we "lend" you firefighters to help put out forest fires if asked.
