Oh, I get it all right -- there is no logic to Trump. He acts on impulse, everything for him is transactional, 'diplomacy' for him is simply bullying others into doing what he wants. His only tactic in getting hostile parties to the negotiating table is to threaten them with economic consequences (tariffs) if they don't. This does not address the real issue which separates disputing parties; they acquiescence only to appease Trump, without actually agreeing to make peace among themselves. Just look at Gaza now, after Trump's supposed 'peace': IDF is shooting people, Hamas is shooting people, Hamas has not disarmed or accepted Israel as a legitimate state. Nothing has changed, and Trump is crowing about how he has ended something.

Yeah, that's the whole weakness of Trump: HE 'wins' the negotiation--the parties to the dispute get nothing. He thinks he's going to 'win' mineral rights from Ukraine--Ukraine does not get peace with Russia for it though. No Nobel prize for you, bub.
