An interesting interview.
It’s about white poverty in the US (well, the title does suggest it).
60.000.000 white people live in poverty. Seemingly if you have a minimum wage in the US, there’s not a county where you can afford a two bedroom apartment.
In totaal 800 deaths a day are due to this poverty (studies show - but not cited).
And yet, the US politicians aren’t really talking about it.
So poverty isn’t about being jobless.

A tax on property that is not the owner's primary residence would help solve this problem.

So they’re talking about mobilizing them, to force politicians to put poverty and how they plan to get rid of it centre stage.
Interestingly, as well, the man is on about systemic poverty (which obviously being a socialist, I agree with) being indescriminate of race. Yes, there is systemic racism too, but poverty is the problem that needs solving.
It would be good for the US, in my humble opinion, to get politicians to focus on poverty and solving it, rather than the tirades we keep hearing about one being smarter than the other and that sortnof rubbish.

That's because it's not a topic that's going to get a politician elected (or reelected) Corporate price gouging, an inadequate minimum wage, and unenforced labor laws are to blame for some of this.
Conservative hypocrites such as Republican farmers collecting billions in government farm subsidies, Republican politicians who preach self-reliance, then apply for billions in Federal disaster relief when a storm hits their state, and fat cat Conservative CEO's collecting hundreds of billions in grants, subsidies and other corporate welfare handouts for their corporations (while shaving off lavish pay packages for themselves) also share some of the blame.
American voters could change this if they wanted, but the Conservative propaganda machine ensures the "dumbing down" of America will go on -

America, beware: this is exactly what Trump wants to do to the entire civil service (which he demonizes by calling it the deep state), he wants to be able to hire and fire the people who process driving licenses, count votes, perform tax audits, approve building permits and inspect bridges — those are civil servants, and Trump wants to be able fire them.

There are millions of potential voters who can't survive properly on a minimum wage and no politicians are taking them into account.

A kid comes out of high school, does not marry or have kids, he can survive on 2 jobs and work up to advancement and make more money in the next job. I'm thinking that this has been going on for about 200 years....but, it does seem to be an issue in our more liberal society of the day. An example of a lib society is paying off tuitions while desperate citizens cannot make ends meet.

But the crux, as you say, 'you can't raise a family like that.'.....that is the point. If you have kids before you can afford them, I think Moonbus and Zhalanzi et al think the government should raise them. On the other hand, a single gent can live on 2 jobs' income. So what is the problem. If he wants more money, a family, then he works and plans,,,,,like I and millions of others did.
If one cannot afford children, they should work 2 jobs until they can afford them. I feel like I speak to a brick wall. You don't like my logic, you walk away. You see this stupid person put himself in a hole, and, well, you don't want to talk about it. You could talk w SHouse about Jan 6 i guess.
