This has so far been the main news source for this story (that I've found) and according to a few articles Ali Rez Asgari was a former Iranian general and was in charge of some weapons deals until his disappearance on Feb 7th. Also, according to this source, his family got out of Iran before his disappearance, which screams defection. Iran has asked Interpol to investigate.

If this guy knows what the stories claim, he's gone forever. Or at least until there is some major changes in Iran.

The question is, who has him? The U.S. says they don't, Israel says they don't, which to me leaves Europe. Which would be my guess anyway, even if nobody denied having him.

I will dig up some more related stories and post them in a few minutes.

According to this article, he had been previously arrested and jailed by Iran, but got back in their good graces somehow. That would explain his reason for defecting. A little contempt for his bosses perhaps.

I can't find a link to it, but I saw a story about Turkish newspapers reporting a story about 3 Iranian "businessmen" disappearing from Turkey last December after they got caught trying to smuggle missile parts into Iran.

I'm thinking this can't be coincidence.

That would be a good place I think. Probably a good idea for Britain, France and Germany to keep their hands off this while they are trying to negotiate with Iran.

Is it possible this guy has been working with another country for a while and they have decided to bring him in because they are planning on using his Intel publicly?

look what happened to the Kamal (sic?) brothers when they returned to the fold (Saddam's sons-in-law).
