the uk lobbied long and hard for the london olympic games.
it seemed that the best part of winning it was taking it away from paris. what bugged me as a londoner was that nobody ever mentioned the "c" word..........................the cost.
now we are expected to fund it and nly now is the truth coming out.
how is it that the media completely ignored the question in the build-up to the london bid?

LA made $224 million, Beijing is predicted to be even more profitable....... may not be a bad thing for the country? I know I will be there!!

yeah but the ordinary taxpayers will not be the ones making money out of the games.

and maybe LA was fortunate but many other cities lost huge amounts of money

Yeh, but it was really good fun beating the french!, and if we had lost the bid it would been annoying.

I loved the way in which the British media caught the French prime minister slaging of the English, pure genius to use it to discredit the french bid!!
