why do I have the feeling I will get sued when one of you starts running with the lollipop in your mouth and you fall and choke on it???

I am thinking about suing rhp for not guaranteeing me a win on every game; Russ, for not coming personally to my door to welcome me to the site each time I log on; all my opponents who beat me for lowering my self esteem: my parents for not nurturing me enough to make me a good chess player..........

Here we have a Government run ACC which is basically a compulsory insurance scheme. Suffer an accident and you get a lump sum, earnings compensation at 80% until you have recovered, all medical and dental expenses, and rehabiltitation. At work or at home, someone else's fault or your fault, and no need to prove anything other than it was an injury. I pay levies like all taxpayers and have had a few claims.

What we lose is the right to sue for personal injury. That is right - I can not sue anyone for injuries done to me, no matter how careless or irresponsible they are. Like everyone else, I have car insurance to cover any damage I do to a car, but not to a driver.

It seems to work. No million dollar claims for coffee burns. No having to claim medical costs from a deadbeat driver. Careless people are still liable but to the court on criminal charges.

Bit tough on the lawyers though!
