He should have said it happened and his and her recollection are different.
Instead, he looks like a liar.
She was believable. The incident is believable. I don't think he was trying to rape her. He was an inebriated young man. She went to the party and went upstairs on her own. Stuff happens at parties when you go upstairs. Guys and girls try/attempt, to get together.
Her perception and his perception could be different.
All that being said, it sure as heck happened. It makes him look like a liar.

based on what do you make that claim?
"He was an inebriated young man"
yeah, it's not his fault. poor guy
"She went to the party and went upstairs on her own. "
YEAH!! she shouldn't have went to the party. since she did, she shouldn't have went upstairs. because it's on always on the victim to make sure she isn't in a position where she is left with someone she doesn't know, who might be drunk or not, doesn't know will rape her or not.
it's on the victim , not on the man.
"Stuff happens at parties when you go upstairs. "
Whether the victim wants to or not. It's preposterous to think she might have simply wanted to talk away from the noise and nothing more. Walking up those stairs is a binding contract to be at the disposal of the stronger party.

It happens. It's evil. It's always horrendous.

She has exposed herself as manipulative.
Since when did liars gain credibility?
You are not wrong on any of your points. I was just illustrating how poor his defense is. He could have went the route I'm suggesting and I would have believed him. Sometimes after 37 yrs perceptions could be different. That all being said...he was there and he did it. He looks like a liar
