Biro is the name of the inventor of the ball point pen and so his name is sometimes used to refer to any ball point pen in much the same way that the word hoover is used to describe any make of vacuum cleaner.

So your bic might be called a biro in UK 😏

Thanks Shavixmir about the whole God thing. I'm glad there is at least on person in the world who can state authoritativly that they know that there is no God. But, I being on the way to becoming a physicist, must ask that you restate your proof more clearly and add in the evidence which had led you to reach the conclussion that you have enough evidence to state that there is no God. Please.
I believe there is a God. If one person believes in a God (whichever God) that God then exists.

The existence of God is not based on proof, it is based on belief.
Therefor, if one person believes, it exists. You can't disprove it.

In the same way that if I should believe you are the new messiah, there's no one who can disprove me, so therefor you are the new messiah.

You are probably right that man created images of God to explain what he could not explain in an other way. And you are also right that a lot of what was unexplainable in the past can be explained now without the help of a God. But if you leave your beer just a bit longer in the fridge 😉 you may discover that beyond the answered questions new questions aris ...[text shortened]... ng else will remain a very personal choice. There is not even a right or wrong there.

That's Kant's point of view. I've discussed that earlier in another thread.

Shavixmir: "If one person believes in a God (whichever God) that God then exists."

This is true for ALL gods being idols, but not for the one and only true and living God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The gods you are referring to are indeed man made gods and believe me they do exist. Just look around you and observe what they can do !

Another interesting thought Ivanhoe. What interests me about Shaxmirs comment is that according to some interpretations of quantum mechanics the very thought of a God could bring that God into existence. I personally don't, and never have agreed with this view of quantum physics, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Those are the ribs that pigs don't really need. This is the only animal product that vegetarians can eat, because no animals were killed while harvesting it --they are surgically removed under local anaesthesia.

Geesh, it sometimes amazes me how some people don't know the obvious.
