Why are Right-whingers either in total denial of the devastation
COVID-19 will do or promoting a laissez-faire attitude? I don't get it.

I do not see this schism between right & left in many other
countries apart from US. (Maybe Brazil ...) What gives? Why?

Your question betrays a lack of insight into the human mindset Wolfie.

You generally refer to me as a “right-winger” (I’ll ignore your silly spelling to try to promote discussion) and yet I don’t at all deny the “devastation” of COVID-19. In fact some would say I’m an “extreme right winger”. But they are wrong. People are too easily and too frequently pigeonholed into these redundant and retarded left vs right stereotypes.

Take myself for example; I have firm views on the EU which result in my supporting of the brexit initiative and subsequently getting horrible abuse thrown at me such as “neo-nazi” “bigot” “racist” and all other manner of vitriol. However I’m actually a centrist, and if not then a left-leaning thinker with just as equally firm “left” views on a wider range of topics such as public health, education, public ownership of utilities and social care. But no one on this site cares about those as long as they can vent their infected and poisoned spleens on the perceived threat to their deep rooted ideology.

So what about these right wingers and disease denial? Well most of them, but not all, are American. It is an American intellectual malaise which happens to more easily infect the suspicious minded, those who see globalism as a threat to their localised control and priorities. It is a seed of distrust which is easily sown in the fertile soil of people who have drunk deeply of the propaganda of fear of “them” “they”, the faceless globacrats who pull the fear-strings of a gullible race in order to introduce a new world order.

Something like that anyway.

My spelling of "Right Whinger" was to differentiate US Right Whingers from people like yourself. I thought that was clear in my post ... sorry if you didn't get that.

The inclusion of me, divegeester, in whatever differentiation you were making between your target group and other people was certainly not explicit and I don’t believe it was implicit nor even intended, but I really don’t mind nor care either way.

There is certainly no need to make a faux apology in a slightly embarrassing attempt to flick a bit of poo at me as I made a pretty decent effort to make a reasoned response to your OP which contained a good point. Nevermind then.

Love it! I am a fan of anybody who keeps their thinking free from the bonds of factional membership and approaches each issue on it's own merits!

Thank you Pete I appreciate the nod.

That's insane! The post just got automatically removed as I did an edit saying that although I voted remain I argued strongly against people who use 'the offending term' as how does help anybody to increase division rather than promoting dialogue!

I should add the gist of the post was respect for people approaching issues on their individual merits rather than just following party and factional lines!

Where did you get the idea that right wing/conservative people are in denial about COVID-19?
The way you people make siht up always amazes me.

I like to randomly remove people's posts, just for chuckles.

Don’t worry your post to me was captured in my reply to you above. I appreciated the comment, thanks.

Oh dear.

Well the automod system only removes posts with bad language.
Makes it look like it was something worse by removing it. I just made a reference to never using the term people created by taking the word Brexiter and putting sh between the x and the i. Unbelievable, you try and do something positive and you get censored (on the site with no censorship of racism etc)!

Occasionally I have second thoughts about the content that I have just posted. So I edit my post by adding a certain 4-letter word. Automod obligingly removes all evidence of my original post, and doesn't leave that "removed by poster" either. I really like automod.
