Bojo said nothing of the sort. What he is saying if that giving kids better education, and therefore better/more opportunities in life is likely to lesson the numbers of unruly blade-toting youths roaming the capital. They'd have more to lose, I suppose is the theory.

Banning something only makes it harder to buy (which immediately gives me a mental picture of "the butter knife wars" -Oi you, let him go or the toast gets it!), people who want to cause GBH will find a way of doing it.

I think a better way to get the violence off the streets is to deprive every
human of any ambition but to improve him/herself. I'm sure there's a
gene somewhere that can be manipulated to help control our
behaviours? Let's use that knowledge.
Well, I'm the exception of course, being the upcoming first president of
the world and all. Also, someone needs that drive to keep the civilised world
moving forward.
What they should do, is get some proper research done into the reasons why knife crimes amongst youths is on the increase.
Instead of coming away with the silliest ideas and snatch 'n' grab policies which are based on nothing and neither there nor here in rationality.
It's the same with teenage pregnancies. Better sex education for 12 year olds is not going to reduce the problem (14 year olds already know the why and what's of a condom). First some proper research and then policies based on the findings.
It's so simple when you think about it.
