I'm half Celt, but I'm not Irish. If you want to call me by racial terms call me a Celt (or a chicano).
I am Arab-American, not Arab. The two cultures are fundamentally different.

I apologize for calling you by a false term. I was trying to make a point.

Nope. Socialism.

GM mistreats its workers too, German.
How? Bloated deals have provided unionized auto workers with an average wage of nearly $65 an hour. Consequently, GM is on the verge of bankruptcy.

You should go to Cuba, where they've had socialism for the past 50 years. Then, maybe you could experience the good life where they spread the misery around equally.

Ah, but Cuba has universal health and education programs.

It seems that the only feather in the cap of our Democrat-controlled Congress is about ready to molt:

From The Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

“The federal minimum wage will rise to $6.55 an hour on Thursday, the second of three annual 70-cent increases passed by Congress last May. With housing markets collapsing, financial markets in disarra ...[text shortened]... income families.

Of course, why not use taxpayer money to pay employees instead of asking companies to pay their employees.

Another right wing measure designed to take money out of the taxpayer and give it to the corporations. Except in this case they want to decrease the tax on corporations also...it's a double whammy!! GREAT!!!!!

Smart, real smart.

Like at GM where they have a strong union but will have to shed thousands of jobs soon?
Come on. If GM made better cars then they wouldn't have fallen behind Toyota in sales. Sales drive profits ffs.

Sure, blame the worker because GM makes junk vehicles.

Smart...real smart.

Again, you are only giving half answers. I don't know why anyone bothers to even read anything you write anymore.

GM is facing bankruptcy because they have too many product lines, and they make vehicles that not enough people want to buy. They used to be #1 in vehicle sales worldwide and now frickin Toyota sells more than they do. The workers have given up wage concessions in the last round of bargaining. Don't blame the workers.

You can't make a profit if you don't sell your product.

Except for Castro, who hired a Spaniard for his own treatment.

Interesting that you pick one particular increase out of many.

There was absolutely no fall in employment in the UK following the introduction of the minimum wage, nor afer any increases.

Why can't they make better cars? Because they have no money for R&D since they're strong-armed into paying union employees $65 an hour and lifetime health care. There's a $2,500 "legacy" cost on every vehicle that comes off the assembly line at GM. It's no wonder they're shedding jobs as fast as they can.

If universal health care is so great, how come Ted Kennedy and Bill Clinton didn't jet down to Cuba or go across the border to Canada to have their cancer and heart bypass surgery performed?

Perhaps because they're unlucky enough to be US citizens?

And no, Irish. It's better for everyone to be well-employed under a good wage.
That's called communism. 😠
