Debates are worthless. They're all about who can deliver the best one-liners and zingers.
The exception is when Kamala and Pence debated; no crowd to play to because of COVID, so they only had there words and ideas to rely on. All debates should be like that instead of endless pre-rehearsed lines made to get applause.
The Fox News town hall meetings were surprisingly good; legitimate thoughtful questions without their trademark bias. I could go for more of those,
@metal-brain saidYou really should avoid voting at all, me thinks.
I will not vote for anyone who refuses to debate. If Trump refuses to debate I will not vote for the coward.

@vivify saidThey are only worthless because they are often fake. You have a room full of establishment puppets saying the same thing about foreign policy and they all know what not to say when criticizing an opponent. Certain talking points are off limits.

Real debates are priceless.
@metal-brain saidI agree. I should specify I mean the televised presidential debates are worthless, not honest intelligent debate.

If Trump is to debate anyone, the rules should specify that he be confined in a soundproof glass box and that his microphone automatically be switched off when it's not his turn to speak. Furthermore, the AI should have instantaneous- mute switch to turn off his mic whenever he utters a falsehood, even when it is his turn to speak.
@moonbus saidTreat him like the chimp he is, and I see no problem with it either.

@moonbus saidSo destroy the integrity of the debate and even democracy out of spite? Why even have a debate if you are going to silence participants? You are such a moron. Always thinking with your emotions with no regard for logic.

Here is a common sense idea. How about let his political opponents point out when he lies? That is what debates are for. You don't want Trump in any debates at all. That is obvious.
@metal-brain saidWhen Trump was allowed an open mic on Jan. 6th, people died. He shouldn't be given a second chance.

Trump won't follow rules. He thinks rules don't apply to him. He always tries to dominate the narrative, whatever the venue, whatever the contest. Therefore, he must be compelled to submit to rules, if he wants to play the game.
@moonbus saidTrump did not call for people to die. He called for peaceful protests.

Also, the people that died were protesters.
@metal-brain saidPutting the onus of rebutting Trump’s lies on the other debaters would allow Trump to dominate the narrative. The other candidates would never get a chance to discuss any substantive issues; they would be entirely occupied with rebutting Trump’s tirade of continuous lies.

@metal-brain saidPolice officer Brian Sicknick died of injuries sustained in the riot. He was not one of the protesters. You’re posting falsehoods, knowingly. That makes you a liar.

@moonbus saidDo you feel the same way about RFK jr. debating for the primary if it happens? Are you just as intolerant of him saying some vaccines are unsafe instead of any substantive issues? Perhaps you would rather he be assassinated like his father and uncle. You seem more pro CIA than pro Kennedy.
