Woah, massive insider trading...

Debates

If you were alive in the 90s, you might remember that we spent 5 YEARS and millions of dollars investigating the Clinton's for a shady real estate deal.

That seems absolutely insane given what's happening now. Substantial insider trading is running into the billions of dollars, literally 5 minutes before a Trump tweet.

In the WSJ article below, there were 7,200 oil contracts that changed hands valued at more than $700 million dollars just in the seconds before Trump tweeted about Iran negotiations. Immediately after that tweet, of course prices dropped dramatically. Hopefully someone's looking into who the people are in the rooms where these decisions are being made, because they are stealing enormous amounts of money in seconds.

It looks like all the Inspectors General who normally investigate these things have been fired.

Where's Ken Starr when you need him, eh?

This looks like the typical rich man rip off.

You make yourself and your buddies a boatload of greenbacks with inside information, and if someone sues, just tie it up in the courts with continuances, motions to dismiss, submitting documents past deadlines, document production requests etc. all the while earning dividends and interest on your ill-gotten gains. While your blood sucking lawyers keep you safe, you are free to skip town to a country with no extradition treaty, park your money in a numbered account and live happily ever after. Years (or decades) later if you do have to pay, it will often be a reduced settlement (without admitting guilt of course)

Rich man's justice. Some of us are MORE equal than others!

AND Maxwell got herself transferred over to one of those Rich man, White man, Club Fed prisons. And why not? She was already in their club.

@wildgrass
And who loses out in all of this...? Some Wall St. firm that sells futures and has amassed a fortune
from other 'bettors' over the years. No tears from me, brother!

The other oil company that didn't have a connection with insider information on what Trump was about to tweet. They lost MILLIONS!!!!

A good investor who is trying to do things the right way. That's who loses.

Err, not sure I agree.

I don't think this is business-as-usual. This type of trading would typically trigger a transparent investigation by the SEC or other agency. That isn't happening, and it seems to be because the investigators have been fired. Possible they were fired by the fraudsters. This type of trading would also typically trigger a massive public outcry of crony capitalism and government fraud, but that also doesn't seem to be happening.

Something is different. It's almost like the police and the public no longer care about fraud.

Trumpublicans don't care about fraud. Everything their Orange Jesus does is a-ok with them. And most of them are Republicans.

The entire society loses, when a few kleptocrats don't play by the rules and get to call the shots in Washington by firing prosecutors and appointing judges who grant them immunity.

The 800-pound gorilla in the room is how Trump has fulfilled his own comments from the past about how government is corrupt and how everything they do turns to crap.

He's appointed to his Cabinet people totally ill-equipped for their positions. Inept in every way. He is determined to bring to real life his assertions that the Federal government sucks and is corrupt. He surrounds himself with inept people just so that he looks better than them in comparison. It's not MAGA, it's MACA, Make America Crap Again.

Didja see, Trump wants a gold coin minted with his visage on it:

Illegal, much.

I'd go for a plug nickel with his face on it, though.
