Do women make good soldiers or are they too emotional? Women are just as brave, hardworking and fit as men, but....

If a woman in her thirties was standing face to face with a 16 year old boy, could she shoot? Would she hesitate thinking "he's only a boy?" Would her maternal instints take over?

Happy debating, bambee

People debate about things like this? Why bother, since you will all disagree. Go look it up, im sure some MOD has done a study or some Uni has information.

Just so you know the answer is no their maternal instincs dont cut in.

People debate things like this because it's a point on which people disagree. If you don't wish to debate it, don't post. If you have something more interesting to debate start your own thread.

Its not up for debate its been proven they dont, no more than a man cant kill a boy. It takes training in both cases. If you had thought about it before posting you'd probably know that Japanese women shot up american boys in the second world war. French women, german lads and the german woman all our boys.

Its all in context, if you were in a war and someone was running towards you guns blazing anyone would shoot back man or woman. Soldiers are trained to do that, but also it would be a situation that demands an instant reaction along with danger to your own life, making it you or them. A sniper on the other hand isnt in imediate danger from his/her target and has to cold bloodly kill, some of the most prolific snipers in the world have been women. Notibly in holy wars and world war 1/2. Frankly I couldnt kill someone in cold blood with a sniper rifle, although I might shoot them down if they came towards me guns blazing. I think most people would agree with that male or female.

another point ive made before is the worth of wemen to men. any assault in war involves death, so how would pepole react if wemen came back in bodybags as we are used to men being killed or wounded, and in the 2nd w.w the wemen took part in the murdering of soldiers. they had no problem, and nam there they took an active part. i have myself no problem with female soldiers as long as they accept that the conciquence is not the glory portrayed in movies but blinded starved limbs blown off is what happens, But on a related subject in training the forces have courses either more time or easyer for females (similar to most sports) is this correct?

No. Most women cannot carry the weight of a combat load bearing equipment. They are an asset though when used in the rear for administartive and medical personnel. There are many women currently serving that I take my hat off to and I appreciate their sacrifices. I served in a combat arms MOS and I had to carry weights of upwards of 150 lbs. Not too many women I know who can do that.

This whole argument is stupid, women unable to kill children? What world are you in? Most serial killer men kill other adults, ie: men and women, but mostly women. Female killers seem to kill a lot of children mind you, and many times, it's THEIR OWN CHILDREN. Many female species downright kill their own offspring from birth because they cannot take care of them all (yep cons, abortion is natural in nature, and I'm tired of arguing this) Maturnal instincts my arse, whether it's a female animal or human, nature has shown women/females to be pretty effective child killers IMHO.
