We all know people should drive on the Right side of the road... but some countries insist on driving on the Wrong Side?!
Who are these countries, and what were they thinking?
England
Australia
Argentina....
Are there other countries that drive on the Wrong Side of the Road?!

Speaking of driving...
There was a lady carrying her child in her arms. As she got onto the bus one day, the bus driver glanced at her and did a double take on her child.
"That is the UGLIEST child I have Ever seen!" He said.
The lady was so startled that she made no response but made her way to the back of the bus where she began to mumble and fume in anger.
The guy next to her asked,"Are you ok lady? You seem distraught."
"That driver just insulted me worse than I have ever been insulted in my life!" she huffed.
"Well," said the man. "You don't have to take it. If I were you I would go up there and give him a good scolding and a piece of your mind. Here. I'll hold your monkey for you."

Australia, New Zealand, Japan, ...in fact about 25% of the countries in the world do. Goes back to feudal times and the British Empire, travelling on the right is mostly down to the French Revolution. For a fuller explanation see http://www.2pass.co.uk/goodluck.htm
America has exported MANY right hand drive cars... believe me... I know!

Its not a big problem on the freeway apart from people forgetting at what side you’re supposed to obey the speed limit - but when you get out on the small narrow roads and meet someone who evades to the same side as you - that’s a problem.
I believe India drives on the left as well. That must lead to confusion when you get to the border!
Originally posted by AcolyteThanks Acolyte I wasn't aware of India. Although from what I've heard they usually feel free to use any side thats available. 😵

I also notice someone has listed Argentina above. So much for my island theory. 🙂
Originally posted by PhlabibitNow China drives on the right - but I was told once during the Cultural Revolution, some of the more zealous ( read looney) red guards decided this 'Keep Right' road code business did not belong in a proletarian state and they should always be as far to the left as possible.

Fortunately, most red guards owned only a bicycle to keep to the left of the road, while the real proletariat - truck drivers - stayed driving on the right. Which rather neatly solved the problem.
For me - I always keep left. But just to confuse you - I sit in the right of the car.

Interesting, but biasedly British and untrue.
Yes. Everybody drove, walked on the left. But a problem kept occuring. Namely, you carry your sword on your right hand side (most western people did) and (especially on stairs) this caused the inconvience of swords getting tangled.
Napoleon put an end to this by having people walk on the right, so that the swords couldn't get tangled any more.
Napoleon never concurred England, and that's why Britain stayed as it was.
