Wajoma: "My life is my highest value so will not be eating a shotgun anytime soon."

No1: "I feel sorry for anyone who would write the first sentence in this post (obviously I mean the first half of it)."

This exchange between No1 and myself made me wonder, what do you consider to be your highest value, if not your own life. If you recognise that your own life is your highest value then you must also recognise that others must also value theirs.

This raises the question of sacrifice. What right do others have to require that you sacrifice your life.

Who's talking about "requiring you" to do anything, much less "sacrifice your life"? All I'm saying is if your HIGHEST value is your mere existence, than you are a pitiful human being.

I can't sum up a whole lifetime of experience and thought about existence in a catchphrase. Sorry. If my four year old grandson was about to get run over by a train and I could save him at the cost of my life, I would do so without a moment's hesitation. So I don't agree with Wajoma.

What if he was about to get run over by a rickshaw? Would you do it then? What about a unicycle?

Those would make the inscription on my urn look silly, but yes.

I applaud you on your "sacrificial limb" on behalf of your grandson. I would hope that 100% of grandfathers would do the same thing, therefore you really wouldn't be considered a hero. However, taking on legal representation on behalf of the unborn would make you a hero because you would be fighting popular opinion on behalf of the voiceless millions of "humans-to-be" that are about to ripped out of a womb without ANY say in the matter.....

LOL......watch that anger, no1....so, I'm a fanatic for wanting to prevent the deaths of millions of babies, and Hitler was a fanatic for killling 6 million Jews; something doesn't jibe, there. I suppose the ACLU are heros for protecting child buggerers, rejecting Jessica's law, and everything else that is common-sense promulgated?.....what logic!

An unborn fetus isn't a baby, and what right do you have to make the parents decision to keep the child or not? What is the point of bringing a child into the world if we can't support it? If we can't make sure that it is loved, and has a proper home, and food on the table? Would you be the one to adopt all the children that would have been abortioned if law changed in your favour, and the parents thought adoption was the best choice (and for most who choose to abort, it would be)? Would you even adopt one kid?

AN UNBORN FETUS IS WHAT IT IS! From Merriam-Webster dictionary: an unborn or unhatched vertebrate especially after attaining the basic structural plan of its kind; specifically : a developing human from usually three months after conception to birth
